October 28th, 2016
As we approach the most important general election in our nation’s history, and as we see almost unbelievable developments on the world’s geopolitical stage, I decided to revisit one of my previous programs this week. This discussion of the “Four Spheres of Power” in the final days scenario is incredibly germane to this week’s events, even though I produced it a couple of years ago.

Amazingly, the situations I discussed then are actually on display on every news channel right now.

I’ve been a student of Bible prophecy for more than five decades. I’ve written a few books on the subject. I’ve made this television program for 20 years (counting its years as “The International Intelligence Briefing” on TBN). Yet I’m still wide-eyed with wonder.

Daily, I’m amazed at how precisely the predictions of the ancient prophets are falling into place.

It was only a few years ago that the critics were saying I’d missed the mark in predicting the role Russia would play in the end-times scenario. If you remember, they confused the disintegration of the Soviet Union with the demise of Russia.

Well, if you read the newspaper or listen to the news channels, you know that Russia is alive and well — and gaining strength as I write these words. Russia is even figuring in to next week’s month’s general election!

But not only is Gog actually on the scene and in the news, it is actively — and publicly — establishing itself as the partner and protector of Iran. Is that significant? Well, if you recall, 2,650 years ago, the prophet Ezekiel said that one day Gog and Persia — modern day Russia and Iran — would form an alliance that would eventually attack Israel in the first battle of Armageddon.

Unbelievably, there are even rumors of war between the U.S. and Russia as I write this.

Pretty exciting stuff, huh?

Not only that, but another of the predicted four spheres of world power in the last days is quickly ascending to a prominent military role in the world. China is not only building aircraft carriers and meddling in South China Sea intrigues, but may already have an operational “carrier killer” missile. The supersonic monster flies just feet off the surface of the water and is not only lethal for aircraft carriers, but is almost impossible to stop.

That alone could change the balance of power pretty quickly.

And just as the “king of the north,” the “king of the south,” and the “kings of the east” are emerging into prominence and mounting the stage, the latter day revival of the Roman Empire continues to struggle for existence. But, beware, out of the struggle and turmoil something potent and ominous will arise. The prophets have described what will come very precisely.

Sadly, the fulfillment of the prophets’ predictions also means that our beloved nation must continue to decline. As I’ve often said, I find no mention of a player like America in the last days cast. Admittedly, how the U.S. is removed from its preeminent political position in the last days is speculation. Terror attack, financial collapse, judgment for its role in dividing Jerusalem or the slaughter of 60 million babies in the womb, even the Rapture of many of its citizens, whatever the reason for America’s absence, the fact is the Bible predicts just four spheres of global power during the Tribulation, not five.

As time speeds away, make sure you and your family are prepared to leave this world when our Savior calls for us. None of us want to be on this earth when the ‘Day of the Lord’ arrives. As He did in the days of Sodom, God is withholding His judgment until the righteous are removed, but that could happen at literally any moment now.

Turmoil In America, Europe and the Middle East! What’s Next?

September 30th, 2016
The recent rash of terror incidents in the United States is disturbing. With the bombings in New York and New Jersey and the stabbings in a mall in Minnesota, it is clear that terrorist attacks inside the US are on the rise.

I continue to be amused, sometimes amazed, at how anxious our government officials are to declare immediately that none of these events are terrorism, especially Islamic terrorism.

Of course, none of us want them to go off half-cocked and automatically declare any act of violence to be terrorism, but neither do we want them to automatically declare that is is not! Why can’t they just wait until they know more information? Why immediately declare that it is not terrorism, then begin walking that back almost immediately?

Obviously, the knee-jerk reaction by those officials is to try to protect the Muslim community from any undue blame. However, the result is that instead of protecting Muslims, they are actually protecting the ideologies of Islam. They’re automatically giving a violent and oppressive false religion a walking pass.

Sort of like the FBI granting immunity to suspects or witnesses before they find out what information the suspects or witnesses can offer.

Well, one thing seems certain. Allowing more high-risk individuals into the United States is not the answer.

We’ve been warning Europe about the possibility of a flood of hardened killers pouring out of the Middle East. Why aren’t we heeding our own advice? Instead, the Administration has announced that it is dramatically increasing the number of “refugees” it will accept from the most troubled and ideologically dangerous areas on earth.

Our philosophy used to be that it is better to fight extremists in their homelands than to fight them in ours. Now, we’re withdrawing from the fight over there and importing their soldiers here. For reasons known only to the deluded minds of the Washington elite, our new policy is to bring the fight here!

Since this is a fight against terrorism, that means that, increasingly, it will be waged in American shopping malls, churches, schools, sporting events, nuclear power stations, water reservoirs, and office towers. In other words, soft targets on American soil.

And if the past offers any indication, we will not be opening our doors to Christian refugees even though a Christian genocide is raging in several parts of the Middle East and Africa.

Speaking of the Middle East, the Islamic State seems to be losing ground in both Iraq and Syria. The media wants us to believe that Iraqi military successes have been made possible only because of U.S. air attacks. Now, that’s certainly an important factor, but air power alone never won a war.

In reality, it’s because the Iraqi government’s ground forces have been aided by a group of 40 Shia militias. They’re like a motley group of posses or lynch mobs in the Old West.

In fact, most of these militias have strong ties to Hezbollah and the Shia terrorist nation of Iran. Further, Iranian general Qassem Soleimani has been instrumental in forming and coordinating these militias. If you remember, Soleimani is the shadowy Iranian al-Quds Forces leader who brokered the deal to bring Russia to the Middle East.

Reuters and other news services are reporting that Iranian combat troops are also operating on the ground inside Iraq. These groups, especially Hezbollah, are contributing to similar success in Syria.

It’s true, the land area held by ISIS is shrinking. And even though the U.S. air campaign has been important, the real key has been the involvement of Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah. This may be a case where the cure is worse than the disease!

As a result of their success against ISIS, Russia is becoming a key player in the energy-rich Middle East. Of course, the big winner in the region is Iran. They have used the presence of ISIS to place their military into key positions all around the region.

Just as the Bible predicted for these final days.

Recently, European Union leaders gathered for a summit in Slovakia. It was anything but business as usual.

They discussed the turmoil created by the recent Middle East migration tsunami — which nations like Germany and France at first welcomed and even encouraged. Then they discussed the possible break-up of the EU with the British exit and the threatened desertion of several other nations.

Some of the old Warsaw Pact nations are forming a separate alliance to resist Brussels’ heavy-handedness. Even the Mediterranean members are coalescing to resist the EU’s edicts.

Europe today is not united. It is fracturing along predictable lines.

But instead of backing off its draconian demands on its members, the EU’s unelected bureaucrat leaders are doubling down. Now they are proposing the creation of an EU Coast Guard to begin patrolling their shores by the end of the year.

They’ve already proposed a European Army to replace the armed forces of the individual states.

In fact, Jean-Claude Junker, the president of the European Commission, is pushing for a “United States of Europe” by the end of the year, too.

It’s amazing to see all of this happening in the light of Bible prophecy. The transfiguration of Europe is taking place before our eyes.

The Bible says that when the dust clears, those that are left will join together into one final superstate — a new Roman Empire. From the New Rome will come the Antichrist.

Folks, this is no longer just Bible prophecy, this is Bible reality!

Finally, this week I want to continue my recent discussion of “redemption” by briefly considering the day in history that forever altered the relationship between God and man — the day Jesus died.

With His death, He “paid in full” the Certificate of Debt owed by every man and woman that has lived or ever will live. The only question that now remains is will we accept that free gift of pardon Jesus purchased and God now extends to us?

I just want to make note of the recent passing of the former Israeli prime minister, president, statesman, and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Shimon Peres. Though he was often an enigmatic character in the unfolding drama of the State of Israel, there is no denying that he was a tremendous influence on those events.

He was the last surviving major player in the birth of the nation of Israel — God’s timeclock in the prophetic scenario. His passing is but another milestone that reminds us that time is marching rapidly toward the culmination of events at the close of this Age of Grace.

Make certain you are ready for what is coming next!

Israel, Hatred, Lies and Deception!!

May 27th, 2016
This week on ‘The Hal Lindsey Report’
Every year on college campuses and in cities around the world, thousands of people take part in an exhibition of propaganda called “Israeli Apartheid Week”, or IAW. Its organizers say, “The aim of IAW is to educate people about the nature of Israel as an apartheid system and to build Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions campaigns.”

First, the word “apartheid” literally means “separateness.” It was a specific name of a specific policy of a specific nation – South Africa. It lasted from 1948 until that nation renounced it in 1994. It was a government-sponsored system that wrongfully restricted the rights of South Africa’s citizens based on race.

Israel is nothing like that.

Benjamin Pogrund was a journalist in South Africa for 26 years. He covered the South African apartheid issue and its demise.

He wrote, “There’s no comparison between Israel and apartheid. The Arabs of Israel are full citizens.” Then he goes on to describe the scope of participation that the Arabs of Israel have in the life of Israel.

He said they have the vote. They sit in the Knesset. They sit on the nation’s highest court. They lead departments at hospitals and universities. They command brigades in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). He noted that Jewish and Arab babies are born in the same delivery rooms, their mothers recover in adjoining beds. Jews and Arabs travel on the same public transportation. “Universities, theaters, cinemas, beaches, and restaurants are open to all.”

But then Mr. Pogrund addressed the real purpose behind “Israeli Apartheid Week” and the “Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions” movement (BDS). He said its intention is to undermine the whole nation.

He wrote, “The obvious aim is to have Israel declared as illegitimate a state as was South Africa and hence open to international sanctions. And even more, at least for some, to deny the validity of its existence.”

The BDS movement is NOT a peaceful attempt to improve the lot of Arabs in Israel. Instead, it is a devious, malicious, and violent effort to invalidate Israel and eventually destroy it.

Keep that in mind as you watch the sympathetic coverage of BDS and Israeli Apartheid Week in the mainstream media.

But IAW and BDS are not isolated phenomena. Rabble-rousing is the new favorite hobby, and sometimes full-time job, for an entire class of self-proclaimed “culture warriors.”

Witness this year’s presidential race. For the first time since 1968, a great deal of social unrest has centered on the presidential campaign. It has been mostly fueled by the promotion of Socialism (one of the most violent and oppressive political movements in history) by one of its remaining candidates.

And with the rise of issues like illegal immigration, Ferguson, transgender restrooms, and organizations like Black Lives Matter and the LGBQT lobby, that’s a dangerous recipe for disaster in America’s near future.

And, as happened in the 60s — or maybe as a result of what happened in the 60s — it is finding fertile soil on America’s university campuses. Whereas the 60s saw the birth of the “Free Speech Movement” in places like UC Berkeley and across the country, we are now witnessing the death by strangulation of Free Speech at most of the institutions of higher learning in our nation.

Violent attempts — yes, violent — to stamp out the rights of free speech and assembly for any students who support Israel or who express a conservative political or Christian viewpoint are occurring weekly on campuses across the United States. And now, the ones who want to restrict free speech and the expression of differing political views are beginning to turn their rage upon the police and security personnel who are trying to protect those rights and assemblies.

In fact, we are raising a generation of wimps and whiners who can’t bear the thought that someone, somewhere (especially on our major college campuses) might disagree with their liberal, anti-Israel, anti-America, anti-God, or deviant sexual behavior beliefs.

But those same chauvinistic, cavalier, and cynical attitudes are not found only in America’s universities. You can find them on full display in the White House.

And I’m not the one saying it. The people in the White House are crowing about it publicly.

Recently, Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes just couldn’t take the anonymity anymore. He was bursting at the seams. He simply had to tell someone what a powerful and clever guy he is. So he told David Samuels at The New York Times Magazine.

In a long, rambling interview, Mr. Rhodes bragged about how he and his accomplices in the White House had duped the gullible American press corps with the notorious Iran Nuclear Deal. And he seemed to take a great deal of pleasure from it.

What he didn’t say, but what he really meant, was how easily he and his boss and his co-conspirators had duped the American public on the merits of the deal with Iran.

And the fact that he would brag about it on one of the most visible platforms in America means that he and his boss believe the American press and the American public and the American opposition are too stupid or too lazy to do anything about it.

Sadly, I believe he is correct.

We have been duped and we apparently don’t care. Yet.

But one day, we will.

Finally, this week I want to discuss with you the difference between “power” and “authority.” Specifically, spiritual power and spiritual authority.

There is a HUGE difference. And once you understand the difference, I believe it will revolutionize your spiritual life.

What did “Sir Isaac Newton” know beyond science?

November 28th, 2014
This week on ‘The Hal Lindsey Report’
Sir Isaac Newton was no dummy.

His famous monograph, “Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica,” was published in 1687. It is credited with laying the groundwork for classical mechanics. In the three volume set he also developed Newton’s laws of motion and stated Newton’s laws of gravitation. Besides inventing the first practical reflecting telescope, he advanced other theories that became foundational to modern physics, calculus, and science in general — most of which I can’t even begin to understand, much less communicate.

Briefly referred to as “Principia,” Newton’s signature treatise is rightly considered one of the most important works in the history of science.

He is acknowledged as one of the most brilliant men of all time. Yet most people don’t know that Sir Isaac Newton was highly religious and a bit of a theologian. He actually wrote more on Bible hermeneutics than on science and mathematics. That’s why something he wrote more than 300 years ago is especially important today.

Sir Isaac observed: “About the time of the end, a body of men will be raised up who will turn their attention to the Prophecies, and insist upon their literal interpretation, in the midst of much clamor and opposition.”

Sure enough, in the last century or so, there has arisen a group of scholars, theologians, and teachers who have done exactly what Newton predicted — insist upon the literal interpretation of the Bible’s prophecies amid “much clamor and opposition.”

We owe a debt of gratitude to men such as Anderson, Chafer, Pentecost, Walvoord, and others who withstood the criticism and, sometimes, condemnation of their peers to bring the Bible’s predictions of these last days to the attention of the Church.

Even so, in 1969, when I wrote “The Late Great Planet Earth,” there wasn’t much general interest in Bible prophecy. With that book, I hoped to attract non-Christians to the claims of Christ and help believers understand the wonder of Bible prophecy.

This week, I’m going to take a look at how some of the predictions I made in that book are shaping up 45 years later. And “shaping up” they are. From the decline of the US dollar to the global war on drugs to the efforts to convert to a global electronic currency to the beginnings of world food shortages. Things are falling into place in the end-times scenario faster than schoolchildren into a lunch line.

All of which means — as I say week after week — that it’s time to get ready for Christ’s soon, sudden return for the believers. Though things are looking bleak on the financial and political horizons, just lift your eyes a little higher and soon we’ll see Jesus coming back for us in the clouds of glory. So don’t despair — prepare!

Is The World Out Of Control?

August 1, 2014

This week on ‘The Hal Lindsey Report’

On “Face the Nation” last Sunday, former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright disagreed with the White House’s recent assessment that President Obama’s policies have “substantially improved… the tranquility of the global community.”

Ms. Albright said simply, “To put it mildly, the world is a mess.”

Earlier, host Bob Schieffer had asked her, “Can you recall a time when there was so much trouble in so many different places around the world?” He went on, “It’s almost like we’re caught up in events out of control.”

I doubt he realized it, but Mr. Schieffer had just offered up a perfect introduction for a lesson on Bible prophecy regarding the end times.

No. He’s never seen a time when there was so much trouble in so many places and on so many levels. And yes, we are caught up in events out of control.

Well, not exactly out of control. Thousands of years ago, the ancient Bible prophets predicted the exact scenario we now see developing across the world.

Here’s just a partial list: Israel, back in its homeland, is facing growing dangers and the world’s hatred; Russia is rising again to prominence and being prepared to lead a confederation of nations to war against Israel; Iran is gaining the means by which it can threaten Israel and head the coalition that will join with Russia to attack her; America, the only global moral and military power that can hold Israel’s enemies at bay and maintain balance in the world, is collapsing into irrelevance; China is quickly gaining a regional dominance that will enable it to join with other eastern powers to challenge the Russia/Iran foray into the Middle East; the world’s tenuous economic system is facing impending collapse which will spark a global panic; there is a dramatic rise of persecution of Christians throughout the world; old diseases and pestilences that were once considered eradicated are making a stunning return amid the rise of new ones; earthquakes are occurring with greater frequency, but, most importantly, in the most unusual places around the world; famine, always present somewhere on a local scale, is now a looming specter regionally and threatens to become global; and the list could go on.

Every single thing that’s happening in the news today was predicted with eerie accuracy by the Bible prophets. Jesus Himself cited their prophecies and added His own during His earthly ministry.

So, we can truthfully say that events are chaotic, but not out of control. They’re setting the stage for the end of the Age of Grace (the Church Age) and the time of tribulation, judgment, and renewal that will follow.

Finally, as a father and grandfather I am grieved by the pathetic plight of the children of Gaza. Who can see the photographs and news video coming out of Gaza and not be filled with pity for the anguish of those innocent children and citizens. No one can deny the tragedy or the suffering we’re witnessing.

But don’t be fooled by much — if not most — of the information that accompanies those photographs and video footage. The blame for this heartbreaking conflict must be laid completely at the feet of Hamas and its Iranian, Muslim Brotherhood, Qatari, and Turkish benefactors.

It is Hamas’ sworn commitment to destroy Israel, its unceasing rocket and missile barrages into Israel (numbering into the tens of thousands over the last few years), its maniacal construction of dozens of fortified terror-tunnels, its diabolical, even Satanic, use of innocent children and civilians to shield its rocket launchers, arsenals, and command centers, and its complete disregard for even the most basic conventions of war that has caused the suffering, both in Gaza and in Israel.

The United Nations recognizes Hamas as a terrorist organization and acknowledges that its tactics in this conflict are certifiable “war crimes.” However, the U.N. refuses to stand with Israel. Instead, it pressures Israel to stop its self-defense and allow Hamas to continue its jihad. That presents a clear picture of the world’s attitude toward God’s people.

The Bible prophesies that in the last days the world will be united in its hatred of Israel. Even though the world is not yet fully “united” against Israel, we can see clearly how quickly that can become reality. Any reasonable and honest observer would have to acknowledge that Hamas is the culprit in this current conflict, yet the world’s media and many of its governments stand solidly in the Palestinian terrorists’ corner — despite the facts.

It’s inexplicable to me, but it’s true. And that tells me that there are powerful supernatural forces at work today. It also tells me that even though all the facts of the end-times scenario are not yet clear or have not yet fallen into place, they could do so overnight. The Bible tells us that as the end approaches, things will begin to happen with increasing intensity and frequency. Could you have picked a better description of what we’re seeing today?

I think not.

Don’t miss this week’s Report here Sunday.

There will be no peace in the middle east until the prince of peace returns to establish His peace!

May 2nd, 2014

This week on ‘The Hal Lindsey Report’

I’m no brain surgeon. I’m not even a rocket scientist. But I can usually tell when something is dead. And the Palestinian-Israeli peace talks are dead.

Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestine Liberation Organization are making certain of that. When the PLO and Hamas recently announced that they are entering into a “unity” deal and forming a unified government, they drove a stake through the heart of the monster.

Even the U.S. State Department had to reluctantly acknowledge that Israel cannot be expected to negotiate with a partner that refuses to recognize its right to exist.

I’m sure, though, that the Palestinians would argue differently. They would say, and do say, that they’ve recognized Israel’s right to exist. However, that “recognition” was given only by implication and in non-official ways. And now, the PLO is aligning itself with a notorious, recognized terrorist organization that has vowed loudly and long NEVER to recognize Israel’s right to exist and NEVER to rest until it no longer exists.

And at just the moment you think that maybe western leaders are coming to their senses, the loose cannon explodes. Secretary of State John Kerry just won’t let go. He is bound and determined to nab that Nobel Peace Prize — just like his buddies Carter, Gore, and Obama — no matter the collateral damage. (Don’t you know that really rankles Bill Clinton?)

It came to light too late to be included in this week’s program, but Kerry’s recently leaked remarks to the Trilateral Commission in which he fantasizes that Israel is on the road to becoming an “apartheid state,” just shows that he’s still trying to ratchet up the pressure on Israel among the world’s movers and shakers.

The scripture instructs us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. One thing that events in the Middle East confirm is that as long as man is in charge, there will be no peace in Jerusalem. So when we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we’re actually praying for the ‘ultimate’ peace for Jerusalem. And there is only one who can bring that peace — the Prince of Peace.

Meanwhile, back at home, remember when America’s university campuses used to be teeming with young people standing up to the establishment? I do. I was there working on campuses across America as an evangelist for Campus Crusade for Christ.

Those were heady days — and not just because of all the pot smoke in the air! Among the students challenging the system and the government, there was a sense of purpose and invincibility. They pushed the envelope and felt it was their right to do so. Nothing was sacred. Nothing was off-limits. Anything and everything was accepted or tolerated.

Fast forward 40-plus years. Those anti-establishmentarians are now the establishment. And, boy, are things different! Their “tolerance” has given way to intolerance. Their celebration of contrary opinions has given way to their determination to quash those differing opinions.

Recently, at the University of Connecticut, a student group staged an outdoor event in which they distributed leaflets protesting the teaching of evolution and supporting creationism. A campus evangelist also shared the Gospel from atop a wooden box to anyone who wanted to listen.

Apparently the audacity of anyone on a university campus not believing in evolution was too much for a prominent anthropology professor. He launched into a two-hour rant in front of the students. He screamed in their faces. He “preached” to the gathered students about the idiocy of creationism. He tried to lead them in chants of, “Praise Darwin!” I think he missed his calling. He should have been a street corner preacher!

No actual harm was done, but the episode illustrates the state of our nation’s secular universities. They are no longer “free thinking” or “free speech” zones. The multicultural and Darwinian establishment that runs America’s educational system is much more tyrannical than the “establishment” they once fought.

What’s even more ironic is that most of these teachers, professors, and administrators oppose the presence on their campuses of any form of Christianity. Yet they worship regularly at the altar of Darwinism — which is as surely a religion as any they detest.

Over in Europe, the spiritual vacuum that has come to characterize the Continent has drawn into itself every wicked human attempt at fulfillment to be found on our planet. Though the established church holds legal sway in many European countries, and is often supported by tax dollars, the church actually serves the State. So those nations are officially Christian, but their most dynamic growth is among Muslims.

That’s why we’re seeing the explosion of “Chrislam,” which is a blending of Christianity and Islam. Though the Bible teaches us to love our “neighbors” — even Muslims — it also warns us NOT to compromise the Bible’s essential truths. In fact, to do so is blasphemy.

That’s what inspired Heidi Mund to risk humiliation and condemnation — even her life — to stand up for Jesus.

Last November, Ms. Mund attended an “interfaith” concert at the Memorial Church of the Reformation in Speyer, Germany. The church is a beautiful cathedral built to honor Martin Luther and the Reformation.

During the concert, a Muslim imam was introduced to give the Muslim call to prayer. As he began, Ms. Mund, who was sitting in the balcony, stood to her feet and began to cry out: “Jesus Christ alone is Lord of Germany. I break this curse!”

Someone nearby yelled to her, “This is a concert for peace!”

Ms. Mund responded, “No it’s not! ‘Allahu Akbar’ is what Muslims scream while murdering people! Don’t be fooled! Don’t be fooled! This is a lie!”

As you would expect, security personnel threw Ms. Mund out of the concert. But before she went, she called out the words that Martin Luther made famous at his trial for heresy in Worms, Germany. She cried out, “Here I stand. I can do no other.” Then she shouted, “Save the church of Martin Luther!”

Now, Ms. Mund is known around the world as “The brave German woman.” She’s become a symbol of resistance to Chrislam and compromise. She is also the target of death threats by radical Muslims. But she says she’s not worried, “…the living God of the Bible can protect me for as long as He wants. When my time is over, I’ll go to Him.”

The Apostle Paul gave a charge to young Timothy: “Do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord.” (2 Timothy 1:8 NASB). Let’s follow the example of Heidi Mund, “the brave German woman,” and loudly proclaim the truth of God’s Word to the world.

If we don’t, who will?

Hatred and persecution of Christians worldwide!

April 25th, 2014

This week on ‘The Hal Lindsey Report’

A couple of weeks ago, on the eve of Passover, a 73 year-old man who hates Jews pulled into the parking lot of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City in Overland Park, Kansas.

It was a target-rich environment. All around him, teenagers were arriving for a talent competition and a rehearsal for a stage play.

So he stepped out of his car with his handgun and his shotgun and started firing. He killed two: a grandfather with his grandson.

Then, the killer drove to Village Shalom Retirement Community in nearby Leawood. There, he shot and killed a woman arriving to visit her mother.

Shortly after, he was arrested outside an elementary school a short distance away.

Frazier Glenn Cross, who is charged with the murders, is a notorious white supremacist. He has served time in prison and written a book about his views. He even ran for public office twice — once on each ticket!

Cross, paradoxically named, is not a Christian. He practices “Odinism,” a neo-pagan cult. In fact, he apparently hates Christianity because it was invented by Jews. And Jesus was a Jew.

His neighbors back in Aurora, Missouri, liked him, but said he thought all Jews should be killed. On Sunday, April 13, Cross tried to make good on that demented belief. Ironically, Frazier Glenn Cross killed three Christians.

Halfway across the world, antisemitism also raised its head in Donetsk, Ukraine. Leaflets were passed out to Jews attending a local synagogue ordering them to register as Jews and pay a $50 fee — or leave the area. They were also instructed to identify what properties they owned.

In a subsequent press conference, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry denounced the distribution of the leaflets.

Fortunately, it appears the entire episode, while true, was the isolated work of masked Russian thugs who were seeking to sow dissent in the area. And the tactic might work because during World War II, Ukrainians rounded up Jews and handed them over to the German Nazis. As you can guess, that’s a memory that runs deep in the Jewish community in Ukraine.

It’s undeniable that antisemitism is once again on the rise across the world, but the seeds of that demonic attitude predate God’s covenant with Abraham. In fact, it extends all the way back to the Garden of Eden when Satan challenged God’s word. He asked Eve, “Has God really said….?”

In Satan’s ferocious, desperate attack on God’s Word, he spawns antisemitism by asking, “Has God REALLY made those promises to Abraham, his seed, and the nation of Israel?”

Of course, Satan’s attack on God’s Word affects more than just Abraham’s descendants. Reuters News Service recently reported that the number of Christian martyrs doubled from 2012 to 2013. DOUBLED, in just one year.

Though you won’t read about it in the mainstream media or hear about it from our President, across the world Christians are being taunted and scorned, hunted down, terrorized, tortured, and murdered. They’re driven from their ancestral homes, their churches are burned, and they’re stripped of the money and properties they’ve spent lifetimes accumulating.

Some are sitting — hungry, miserable, beaten — in dank prisons. Sometimes for years. Sometimes facing impending execution. Mostly forgotten.

Though the heinousness of the persecution of Christians has not yet reached the levels it reached during the first century (or for many Jews during the Holocaust), it is nonetheless real. And who’s to say it won’t eventually come to the point where Christians will be flayed (have one’s skin ripped off while still alive to experience it)? That was the fate of the Apostle Bartholomew. And the Holocaust instructs us that man remains capable of unbelievable cruelty toward those he hates.

Jesus Himself warned us that we will be HATED for His name’s sake.

So how should we then live? In fear? No. More than one hundred times, the Bible tells us to “fear not.” In despair? Again, no. The Apostle Paul encourages us: “We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9, NASB)

Time and time again, Paul reminds us that God wants our lives to be filled with “grace” and “peace.” How can our lives be filled with grace and peace if we are facing persecution? Well, the first step is to look at our problems from “The Divine Viewpoint” rather than “The Human Viewpoint.” That simply means that we must trust what God has promised more than we trust what Satan has promised.

For the believer, that should be a no-brainer. And the good news is that if we take the leap of faith and actually believe what God has said and trust Him to be faithful to His Word, we can live with His grace, peace, and joy in the midst of the raging storms around us.

And trust me, folks, we’re going to need all of God’s grace, peace, and joy that we can hold in the coming days and years. Satan’s war on the cross of Christ and the validity of God’s Word is just heating up. If you’re a sports fan, you could say that we’re heading into the home stretch.

Just last week, al-Qaeda’s second-in-command told the leaders of that resurgent group that their number one goal is to “eliminate the cross…. The bearer of the cross is America!”

I believe that will be the battle cry of the forces of darkness as we approach the end of this Age of Grace. The war for the hearts and minds of humanity will center on the Word of God. That’s why governments and other religions desperately try to intimidate Christians into silence — because they represent the Word of God and the presence of God.

And the Word of God teaches that the hope of salvation rests on the brutal cross of Christ. If Satan cannot convince men that there is no Almighty Creator God, no Jesus Christ, no cross, no sacrifice, no resurrection, no heaven, or no hell, then he must persuade them that they can achieve eternal happiness in heaven by their own merit and good works. One is as damning as the other.

But we can also take great joy in noting that, in spite of the doubling of Christian martyrs in the last year, millions are coming to Jesus around the world. London’s newspaper, The Telegraph, recently reported that experts predict that by 2030, China will have the largest concentration of Christians in the world — despite the Communist Party’s efforts to stamp it out. China!

Even as His enemies rage against Him, God uses it for good. It’s always been that way. It was the persecution of the first Christians that caused them to scatter and carry the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

Remember, in both the good and the bad, the Lord wants us to have a good attitude. He doesn’t want anger, fear, or frustration to have power over us. Yes, there are times to grieve, times to mourn, times to feel angry, but Nehemiah said, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 6:10 NASB).

Jesus said, “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love one for another.” (John 13:35 NASB)

That means we are empowered by joy and characterized by love. Even in dark times, we can live in a bright and glorious place.
